About the Role:

 

As a Systems Engineer SAP Basis Administration (m/w/d), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stable and efficient operation of BioNTech's SAP S/4HANA landscape within the SAP Private Cloud (Enterprise Cloud Services / ECS) environment. Collaborating closely with internal IT teams and external SAP service providers, your expertise will help maintain system performance, manage technical changes, and resolve incidents. By contributing to the seamless operation of our SAP systems, you’ll directly support BioNTech's mission to harness the power of technology for innovative healthcare solutions.

 

Your Contribution:

 

  • Administer and operate the SAP S/4HANA system landscape in the SAP Private Cloud (ECS) environment, ensuring high availability through regular health checks, performance monitoring, and maintenance activities
  • Manage technical transports, system copies, and release activities using the SAP Transport Management System (STMS), while adhering to change management processes
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve 2nd-level SAP Basis-related incidents; perform root cause analysis, document solutions, and escalate complex issues to senior engineers or SAP ECS when necessary
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and support package implementations in coordination with SAP ECS, ensuring thorough testing before deployment
  • Maintain connectivity between SAP and non-SAP systems (e.g., RFC connections), supporting system integrations in collaboration with infrastructure and network teams
  • Document system configurations and operational procedures while adhering to ITIL-based service management processes

 

A Good Match:

 

  • Completed vocational training in IT or relevant higher education such as Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Minimum 2–4 years of professional experience in SAP Basis administration, with a strong focus on SAP S/4HANA operations in a Private Cloud / ECS environment
  • Knowledge of SAP Transport Management System (STMS), change management processes, and system monitoring tools like SAP Cloud ALM or Solution Manager
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure topics such as network connectivity, RFCs, or system landscapes
  • Strong analytical skills paired with an organized working style to effectively manage operational tasks across various domains
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, enabling effective cooperation with cross-functional teams and external partners
