About the Role:

 

As the Global Medical Affairs Team and Asset Leader, you will take the helm of a Medical Affairs Team (MAT), crafting and driving the medical strategy for a defined brand, indication, or asset scope. Your leadership will integrate cross-functional expertise across Development, Global Product Strategy, Publications, Scientific Communications, Evidence Generation, HEOR, Pricing and Reimbursement, and regional/local medical teams to deliver a unified medical vision. This role is pivotal in shaping BioNTech’s success by translating scientific innovation into impactful strategies that address high medical needs.

Your Contribution:

 

  • Lead a Medical Affairs Team (MAT) and define the overarching medical strategy for one brand/indication or equivalent asset scope
  • Develop and maintain a coherent medical plan encompassing evidence generation, scientific communications, publications, HEOR, field medical needs, and external engagement priorities
  • Act as the formal cross-functional integrator for decision-making across Development, GPS, Publications, Scientific Communications, HEOR, Pricing and Reimbursement
  • Translate scientific data into actionable strategies and differentiated medical positioning
  • Provide senior-level input into launch preparations, lifecycle planning, and governance discussions
  • Incorporate country and regional perspectives into global strategies where relevant
  • Mentor junior Medical Directors and contribute to capability-building within Medical Affairs
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex asset-level trade-offs and prioritization decisions


A Good Match:

 

  • MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent scientific/clinical qualification required
  • Demonstrated oncology expertise for Senior/Executive levels; relevant oncology experience for Associate level
  • Extensive experience in senior oncology Medical Affairs or Clinical Development roles within pharma or biotech industries
  • Proven track record of leading major initiatives in matrixed organizations with cross-functional teams
  • Strong external scientific credibility coupled with excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Strategic thinker with deep oncology knowledge who excels in navigating complexity
  • Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated ability to align diverse stakeholders

 

 

Your benefits and remuneration:

 

If the position is filled in the US, the Expected Pay Range is $198,900/year to $318,300/year + benefits, annual bonus & equity (bonus and equity is variable and dependent on company and individual performance). Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

Compensation at other locations may vary significantly.
