Senior Director, Global Product Strategy

About the role:
As part of BioNTech's mission to convert science into survival, we are building a world class Oncology organization and seeking an experienced and mission driven Director / Senior Director of Global Product Strategy Oncology. In this role, you will work closely with BioNTech China team and other BioNTech partners to optimize early clinical programs and act as a key expert for Oncology commercialization in China.
Your contribution:
- Act as the Global Product Strategy/Commercial lead to optimize strategic program decisions with the goal to maximize patient impact and commercialization.
- Lead and contribute to new product planning activities and early commercialization strategy, including leading the early asset prioritization aligned to BNT portfolio strategy, develop product strategies, target product profiles, indication prioritization, positioning, and market shaping activities.
- Leverage know-how of the oncology healthcare market in China, to gather insights that shape new product planning activities for optimal commercialization in China.
- Provide strategic input on commercialization approaches, with a strong emphasis on the China oncology market.
- Direct commercialization strategy and ensure comprehensive launch readiness for China, enabling successful product launches by driving cross-functional collaboration and managing strategic alliances.
- Partner closely with our partnered companies and with cross functional groups in China and across Global teams (e.g., Clinical Development, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Business Alliance, Finance, and Medical Affairs) to develop and implement strategic and executional plans across the asset lifecycle.
- Execute budget planning and ensure appropriate monitoring and tracking of resources.
A good match:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a track record of sustained overachievement and increasing responsibility at the global and/or affiliate level.
- Demonstrated oncology commercialization success in China, with clear examples of outperformance versus benchmarks (e.g., accelerated launch readiness, differentiated positioning, portfolio or indication prioritization impact); experience across Japan, Australia, and other Asia markets is preferred.
- Proven ability to translate deep disease‑area expertise (NSCLC, breast, GI, or GU cancers) into strategic decisions that meaningfully influenced development or commercialization outcomes.
- At least 3 years of experience in new product planning, product strategy, or Global Brand Teams, with evidence of leading high‑impact initiatives supporting assets from early clinical development through launch or key development milestones.
- Experience in global or affiliate commercial/marketing roles, or as a consultant, with demonstrated ability to exceed expectations in highly matrixed, cross‑functional environments.
- Undergraduate degree required; MBA, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree is a plus, particularly where academic training contributed to strategic rigor and decision quality.
- Recognized for exceptional analytical, strategic, and organizational skills, including the ability to synthesize complexity into clear, decision‑driving recommendations.
- Strong collaboration and alignment‑building capabilities, with demonstrated influence beyond formal authority across global, cross‑functional teams.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin, with a proven ability to operate effectively in senior, bilingual, and multicultural settings.
Your benefits and remuneration:
If the position is filled in the US, the Expected Pay Range is XXX,XXX/year to XXX,XXX/year + benefits, annual bonus & equity (bonus and equity is variable and dependent on company and individual performance). Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
