About the Role:

As Director External Supply Organization, you will play a pivotal role in driving BioNTech’s external manufacturing strategy, ensuring seamless collaboration between our contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs) and internal teams. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing our protein and mRNA production capabilities, supporting BioNTech's mission of pioneering immunotherapies for a healthier future. Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will lead interdisciplinary teams, navigate complex challenges, and shape the strategic development of our external supply network.

 

Your Contribution:

• Act as the central interface between assigned CDMOs and BioNTech to ensure smooth operations, effective communication, and timely supply

• Lead interdisciplinary teams including experts from AS&T, QC, MS&T, Procurement, CMC, Supply Chain, QA, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, and others to manage CDMO performance (e.g., KPI setting/review processes and CAPA implementation)

• Drive contract negotiations with external suppliers while serving as the first escalation point for challenges within the external production network

• Execute or support projects at CDMOs such as continuous improvement initiatives or technology transfers

• Contribute to BioNTech's supply strategy with a focus on protein and mRNA pipelines; knowledge in protein and mRNA manufacturing is preferred

• Develop strategic accounts within BioNTech’s external production network, including resource planning and budgeting

 

A Good Match:

• Completed degree in supply chain management, international business management, engineering or life sciences

• Proven experience working with external suppliers or CDMOs; strong understanding of production processes in protein and mRNA manufacturing

• Business acumen with demonstrated budgeting expertise and cost center ownership

• Business-fluent English and Mandarin skills for global communication

• 5–7 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industries focusing on supplier relationship management or external supply/CDMO operations

• Expertise in EMA/FDA regulatory standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

• Strong communication skills with a track record in contract negotiations; able to work effectively across global cross-functional teams

• Strategic mindset coupled with operational expertise; proactive decision-making in dynamic environments
