About the role:
BioNTech is establishing an mRNA research and manufacturing facility in Melbourne based on its modular mRNA manufacturing approach called BioNTainers that will support R&D and the evaluation of mRNA vaccine candidates in clinical trials in Australia, with the aim of strengthening Australia’s mRNA ecosystem. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment, including production equipment and mechanical services.
Your contribution:
- Participate in hand-over training from the construction team for mechanical plant and equipment, and support the establishment of preventative maintenance schedules and task instructions.
- Execute preventive maintenance for pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and utilities in accordance with approved maintenance schedules.
- Lead troubleshooting of equipment issues, identify root causes, and conduct repairs to minimize downtime.
- Support investigations and continuous improvement of maintenance plans to improve equipment reliability.
- Coordinate spare parts inventory for mechanical equipment, always ensuring availability for maintenance or repairs.
- Coordination and supervision of external maintenance service providers.
- Compliance with company and regulatory requirements for SHE, including PPE and safe work permits for high-hazard work.
- Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, including documentation, deviation, CAPA and material management.
A good match:
- Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or food industry preferred
- Experience in trouble shooting and general maintenance activities
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and electronic maintenance software and tools.
- High sense of responsibility, teamwork skills, and a structured, reliable, and clean working style
- Knowledge of cGMP and good documentation practice is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate in dynamic, cross functional matrix environment.
