Director* Research & Scientific Affairs 

 

BioNTech Australia, Melbourne are now looking for a Director Strategy & Alliance.  As part of our Strategy and Corporate Development team, you will be responsible for generating overall strategy for BioNabler unit and executing alliances in line with BioNTech corporate and BioNabler strategy.

 

 

Your main responsibilities are: 

  • Manage on-boarding of new clients (R&D and clinical) to platform in Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Islands.
  • Liaise with key external stakeholders (eg. Clinicians, Scientists, Professors) on their projects, ideas and needs, identify opportunities for collaborations and win stakeholders to work with BioNTech tools and supplies.
  • Responsible for identifying and assessing innovative research programs nationwide and conducting an annual Symposium to bring BioNTech researchers close.
  • Analyze and understand customer and market needs to help define next components in strategy and operations.
  • Build up strong relationships with governmental bodies, academic institutes, health care and regulatory authorities and related technical organs in support of the adoption and implementation of BioNTech’s innovation.
  • Drive implementation of clinical trials and clinical research in Australia, incl. BioNTainer RNA production for clients.
  • Deliver credible scientific exchange or education programmes on scientific matters individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), either reactively (in response to a clinical enquiry) or proactively (as part of an infectious disease area discussion) across Australia.
  • Attend relevant research and scientific meetings and conferences. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop summaries of key data and other scientifically relevant information to inform BioNTech´s strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of the competitive environment, ongoing clinical research and publications.

 
What you have to offer: 

  • Pharmacist, Medical Doctor or PhD  
  • Pharma industry experience within Infectious Diseases and/or Oncology
  • 7+ years Pharma industry experience in Medical Affairs, including pipeline and pre-launch activities or similar
  • 3+ years clinical practice
  • Good knowledge of governmental processes, industrial environment and scientific landscape in Australia and SEA
  • A specialism in immunology / RNA chemistry / Molecular biology/ Infectious diseases preferred
  • Experience in leading a brand or disease strategy in a country, a region or global organization
  • Proven ability to build and maintain medical-scientific partnerships and to communicate with oncologists, infectious disease experts, and epidemiologists at eye-level
  • Ability to negotiate, collaborate, and to build trust
  • Ability to identify ideas and projects, define their probability for clinical success and time to realization
  • Demonstrated matrix leadership in previous roles
  • Ability to prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Track record of building strong internal and external networks
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and cultural diversity
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively
