Scientist* TailoredOmics Technologies 

 

At BioNTech you will support the Tailored Omics group in the Bioinformatics R&D department.

 

Your main responsibilities are: 

 

  • Developing bioinformatics pipelines for analysing long-read sequencing data, both at DNA and RNA level.
  • Contributing solutions for R&D, but also working at the interface to clinical projects, e.g. in the areas of immunotherapy and biomarker analysis.
  • Possible technical supervision of colleagues and students.
  • Contributing to innovative projects with internal colleagues to collaboratively develop new computational tools in cancer genomics.
  • Literature research on innovative methods in the field of NGS and bioinformatics.

 

What you have to offer. 

 

  • A doctorate in the field of bioinformatics, biotechnology, biology or a comparable discipline.
  • Experience in handling long-read sequencing data (PacBio, Nanopore). The ideal candidate should not only be familiar with these technologies, but also competent in the development of bioinformatics tools and pipelines specifically designed for analysing long-read sequencing data.
  • Knowledge of programming with Python is a must. Experience in other programming languages would be desirable (e.g. R)
  • Knowledge in the field of cancer genomics, statistical genetics, population genomics, is a great advantage.
  • Organisational talent with an independent, solution-oriented way of working and high social competence
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
