Scientist* Systems Medicine
At BioNTech you will support the Bioinformatics R&D team in bioinformatics research.
Your responsibilities in detail:
- Strengthen molecular characterization of tumors for both clinical and research setting by developing and evaluating novel integrative approaches to the analysis of NGS cancer data
- Correlative analysis of patient outcomes, phenotypes, and immune readouts with diverse NGS-based data types
- Analysis, development, creation of software and pipelines including versioning and documentation in the field of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and other high-throughput data
- Contribution of solutions for R&D but also as an interface to clinical projects e.g. in the areas of immunotherapy and biomarker analysis
- Contribute to innovative projects with various partners such as clinical, biological and machine-learning teams to collaboratively develop new analysis tools
- Architecture and implementation of software mainly in Python including validation
What you have to offer.
- Completed studies with a doctorate in computational biology, bioinformatics, immunology with strong computational background or a comparable field of study
- Experience in the field of computational biology, bioinformatics, high-dimensional data analysis, and algorithm development
- Experience with Python in particular, but also knowledge of other programming languages, such as R
- Sound experience in the development of software solutions for analyses and pipelines in the field of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
- Experience with multi-omics techniques (e.g., single-cell transcriptome, genomics, metabolomics, and imaging data)
- Experience in integrating diverse NGS and non-NGS data sets to identify predictive biomarkers, or mechanistic hypotheses.
- Experience with mining large internal and public data sets
- Experience in handling clinical datasets is a plus
- Experience in immunology and/or cancer is a plus
- An independent, solution-oriented way of working and high social competence as well as strong team skills
- Organizational talent with an independent, solution-oriented way of working and high social competence as well as strong teamwork skills
- Business fluent in written and spoken English
