We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Bioinformatics Scientist with expertise in mathematical modeling, immunology, and sequencing technologies to join our team. Ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in (bio)physics or (bio)mathematics, paired with hands-on experience in computational biology. This role focuses on developing and optimizing bioinformatics pipelines for antigen identification, evaluation, and selection and vaccine design. Key responsibilities include enhancing software tools for laboratory analyses, creating AI algorithms and developing automation workflows, leveraging Omics technologies to advance antigen candidates, and contributing to projects in systems medicine and other research around tumor biology. A significant portion of the work will involve designing and refining sequencing pipelines specifically tailored for Oxford Nanopore sequencing platforms.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Data preprocessing and statistical analyses
- Development of new algorithms including novel machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies
- Design and development of bioinformatics analysis pipelines, particularly for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data
- Improving software solutions for laboratory analyses and sequencing pipelines
- Advancing integrative Omics analyses and developing new tools based on multi-Omics data
- Supporting projects in systems medicine and tumor biology
- Conducting research activities, including literature reviews and conceptual development
What you have to offer:
- PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Immunology, or a related field
- Proven expertise in computational biology/bioinformatics, AI, and algorithm development
- Proficiency in Python is essential; familiarity with other programming languages such as R is a plus
- Extensive experience in data analysis and preprocessing
- Strong background in developing software solutions for NGS analysis pipelines
- Experience in designing and implementing integrative Omics analyses
- Familiarity with clinical datasets is advantageous
- Expertise in biology and immunology, ideally with a focus on cancer immunology
- Independent, solution-oriented work style with strong organizational skills
- High level of social competence and team collaboration abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential, with German proficiency considered an advantage
