Research Specialist Chromatography (parental leave replacement)

As Research Specialist Chromatography you will support development, optimization and maintenance of chromatography-based assays for the release and characterization of mainly RNA products that are currently in clinical trials. You will be supportive technical expert for HPLC/UPLC within the group and department, involved in communication with internal and external partners and collaborators. You will be responsible for equipment and organizational tasks of laboratory management.
Please note: This position is a temporary parental leave replacement for 2 years and cannot be offered on a permanent basis.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Planning and execution of chromatographic assay (using HPLC and UPLC systems) for RNA analysis.
- Participating in method optimization and new method development as well as trouble shooting of chromatographic assays and sample preparation.
- Predominantly independent design of experiments within a given context and based on existing protocols or without specific work instructions.
- Data processing, data interpretation, and presentation within the team, as well as related documentation, such as writing and revision of analytical procedures and development reports.
- Responsibility for equipment and organizational tasks of laboratory management (e.g. instrument support and maintenance, communication with device manufacturers and service technicians, resupply and ordering of material).
- Close collaboration with other members of the department and interaction with internal and external partners.
What you have to offer:
- Scientific degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) or completed vocational training with approx. 3 years of relevant work experience in Analytical Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Biopharmaceuticals or Biochemistry or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with chromatography, preferably with nucleic acids as analytes.
- Basic knowledge about different chromatographic techniques (e.g. IP-RP, SEC, HILIC) as well as basic knowledge about sample preparation methods for nucleic acids and RNA is a plus.
- Good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken.
