Director Procurement Logistics Services

Your responsibilities:

 

  • You will be accountable for the end-to-end management of all Procurement activities for global Air-, Ocean- & Overland Transportation as well as Logistics Services
  • You take ownership for developing a supplier strategy that is in-line with existing category strategies and for achieving strategic objectives, e.g. by tapping into the supplier's innovation potential and resources by setting up joint innovation initiatives, analyzing supplier cost structures and drivers
  • You handle strategic supplier relationships and contracts with BioNTech’s 3PL and 4PL Partners by governing the overall relationship and orchestrating internal alignment with cross-functions so that BioNTech speaks with one voice to the service provider
  • You plan and carry out strategic sourcing events for critical initiatives and tactical, ad-hoc sourcing projects to enable sustainable and value based logistic solutions for BioNTech. This includes RFI/RFP management, contract negotiation and execution as well as the identification of cost/productivity improvement opportunities

 

What you have to offer: 

 

This role is integral to our operational success, requiring a blend of technical knowledge, effective communication, and leadership:

  • M. Sc. in Economics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field with extensive experience in pharma logistics procurement, cost optimization, category management, and strategic sourcing
  • Proven track record of cross-functional team leadership, managing internal customer relationships effectively, excelling in environments involving multiple stakeholders, functions, and locations
  • Experience in logistics and supply chain operations and a deep understanding of the integrated role of people, policies, processes, and systems necessary for sustained success in strategic and operational sourcing
  • Broad hands-on sourcing background coupled with experience developing and executing business-aligned procurement strategies
  • Advanced financial, quantitative, and analytical capabilities to drive insights, evaluate opportunities, and manage risks effectively
  • You bring an outside-in perspective by identifying market trends and understand how external innovation potential can be used successfully within logistics category
