Director Process Engineering

The Director Process Engineering will lead the process engineering team within the Global Engineering department. This role is pivotal in providing expertise for manufacturing and analytical equipment and facilities, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in national and international projects. The Director will lead the design and build and support commissioning, qualification (C&Q), and handover of equipment and facilities to operations. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the successful execution of large-scale capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects and the development of standardized equipment solutions.
Your contribution:
- Lead and manage the process engineering team to deliver technical expertise for manufacturing and analytical equipment and facilities. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team
- Serve as the Key Equipment SME for national and international projects, ensuring successful execution of design, build, commissioning, qualification (C&Q), and handover to operations
- Act as the independent department Lead Engineer
- Provide design ownership for standardized equipment (e.g., BioNTainer) and other assigned topics as aligned with the line manager
- Develop BioNTech-wide equipment standards to enable rapid technology transfers (e.g., platform processes) and cost-saving initiatives. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices
- Actively engage with cross-functional teams, including CMC, R&D, MS&T, AS&T, Manufacturing, and other departments, to foster collaboration and ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions
It's a match:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field
- Extensive experience in process engineering, equipment design, and project execution within the pharmaceutical industry
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and driving cross-functional collaboration
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and analytical equipment and facilities
- Expertise in developing equipment standards and enabling technology transfers
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities in complex engineering scenarios
