As Associate Director* in the CMC Project Management Team at BioNTech, you will collaborate with a Lead Project Manager and other CMC Project Managers to manage cross-functional teams for both early and late-phase CMC development projects focusing on our individualized cancer vaccine pipeline.In this exciting interface role you will establish project infrastructure and processes to ensure efficient and consistent project management within your designated area, aligning closely with other CMC functions to meet the company's and program's goals.

 

 

 

Your main responsibilities:

  • Planning, coordinating, integrating, executing, monitoring, and closing complex multidisciplinary CMC development modules
  • Translating company and program strategy into concrete operational project requirements, project plans, work packages, and timelines, and conveying this in a motivational manner to the project team while adhering to scope, budget, time, and quality
  • Translating and delivering complex information between interdisciplinary teams in clear and concise language, establishing efficient information flow including routine status reporting, project risk management and project reviews to ensure that project goals align with the company's vision and strategy
  • Managing of large cross-functional project teams in a matrix organization through natural authority and argumentative skills to steer the project course in line with the company's vision and goals
  • Leading and supporting the implementation of company-wide new processes and process improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency

 

 

What you have to offer.

  • University degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a similar field
  • 5+ years of experience in managing projects and leading cross-functional teams, preferably with previous work experience in regulated environments (e.g., GMP, GCP/GCLP)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without authority, motivate with enthusiasm, and develop productive working relationships with key stakeholders; (direct) leadership experience welcome
  • Experience coordinating larger cross-functional project teams (10+ people) and successfully managing stakeholders from expert level to management level
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including excellent English skills, both written and oral (German skills are desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to develop strategic plans by bridging unknowns with reasonable assumptions and keeping an eye on the long-term project goal
  • Expertise in translating complex technical issues into easy-to-understand messages
  • GMP knowledge is expected; CMC knowledge is a big plus; mRNA and lipid knowledge is also a plus
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in prioritizations and project directory; resilience to ambiguity
  • Fast perception of new knowledge and efficient problem-solving skills with high personal commitment within a fast-paced matrix environment
