The Associate Director CMC Business Services will play a key role in managing external partnerships for CMC development and manufacturing activities. Acting as the central point of contact, the Associate Director will lead cross-functional teams to select, contract, and onboard Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs) and manage business operations with these partners during project execution.
In addition, the Associate Director will drive CMC due diligence for potential new collaboration partners, contribute to collaboration and technical agreement negotiations, and manage business operations with existing partners as applicable. This role ensures seamless coordination between internal stakeholders and external partners to enable high-quality development and manufacturing services.
Your main responsibilities are.
- Lead cross-functional teams to manage the selection, contracting, and onboarding of CDMOs, ensuring alignment across technical functions, procurement, legal, QA, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee day-to-day business operations with contracted CDMOs during project execution.
- Drive CMC due diligence for potential new collaboration partners and contribute to overall due diligence activities.
- Contribute to negotiations of collaboration and technical agreements with new and existing partners.
- Manage day-to-day business operations with collaboration partners as applicable.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with CDMOs and collaboration partners to foster long-term collaboration and operational excellence.
What you have to offer.
- A degree in life sciences, engineering, business, or related fields, combined with several years of professional experience in an international (bio-)pharmaceutical environment.
- Solid understanding of CMC development and related interface functions such as procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, and legal.
- Experience working with CDMOs and collaboration partners; prior experience in managing external alliances or technical agreements is a plus.
- Strong leadership and ability to guide senior teams in a matrix environment.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills as well as strong negotiation skills.
- High intercultural competence and confidence to operate in an international setting.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical matters to internal and external stakeholders.
- Business proficiency in English (fluency required); German is considered a plus.
