Head of Data Science, Global Health Strategy 

 

We are seeking a talented data scientist* to develop a new data science function within BioNTech’s Global Health Strategy team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering the organisation’s mission to translate science into survival.

 

Your main responsibilities are:

 

  • Identify, advise on, and execute opportunities for the organisation to better utilise data science to deliver against its objectives. Leading groundbreaking modelling and analysis projects in areas relating to some of the biggest health challenges (including cancer and infectious diseases) and writing your own code.
  • Working with the wider Global Health Strategy team, clinical operations teams, and Clinical Research Organisations (CROs) to optimize the delivery and monitoring of our clinical trial processes and enable data-driven decision making.
  • Acting as the Global Health Strategy team’s analytical interface with InstaDeep. Identifying, designing, securing agreement on, and executing strategic projects on areas of mutual interest.
  • Champion and model high level ‘data-storytelling’ abilities. Translating complex technical findings into actionable insights and present them to colleagues and stakeholders in a clear, visual, and understandable manner.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and ethical considerations, adhering to the relevant industry and legal standards. Supporting ongoing management, review of, and adherence to data governance processes to maintain data quality, consistency, and security.

 

What you have to offer:

 

  • Successfully completed studies with an analytical focus, PhD is an advantage
  • Extensive experience as a data scientist, preferably with a focus on health and the potential to make a significant impact through data analysis
  • Excellent Python programming skills as well as experience with graphical representation of scientific data
  • Excellent communication skills, translating complex information into compelling narratives
  • Experience in and/or a strong understanding of machine learning and AI
  • Proven experience in thriving under fast-paced conditions
  • Strong leadership and people management skill
  • The ability to gain credibility and cultivate interpersonal relationships in order to gain trust
