About the Role:
As Director of Legal Dispute Resolution & Government Investigations (DR&GI), you will play a pivotal role in shaping BioNTech’s approach to resolving complex legal disputes worldwide. Your expertise will directly support our mission to innovate and deliver groundbreaking therapies by ensuring compliance and mitigating risks across collaboration, licensing, research, and supply agreements (not including pure IP or employment law matters). Working within a dynamic global team, you navigate high-stakes challenges in a fast-paced environment, providing strategic guidance that drives organizational success.
Your Contribution:
- Lead and manage diverse dispute resolution actions, including product liability cases, from pre-dispute steps to enforcement of judgments and awards
- Review pleadings and court documents with precision while handling subpoenas and information requests
- Conduct legal/business risk assessments during negotiations, including advising on jurisdiction and applicable law
- Manage external counsel relationships effectively to ensure strategic alignment, quality work products, and budget adherence
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments (in particular, business development and alliances, research, clinical and technical operations and supply) to analyze relevant facts and documents for legal matters
- Support public disclosures such as SEC filings
- Develop and improve standard agreements, legal processes and training
A Good Match:
- Qualified lawyer in England & Wales
- At least 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in dispute resolution, including litigation and arbitration, gained in an international law firm or in-house role within a highly regulated industry; experience in life sciences or pharmaceuticals is preferred
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively across diverse disciplines in a dynamic and fast-paced corporate Environment
- Practical, solution-oriented professional with a creative and hands-on approach; outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to distill complex legal concepts for internal stakeholders, including senior management
- Highly organized, responsible, and detail-oriented individual who can work independently while incorporating legal guidance seamlessly into deliverables
- Positive mindset with a proactive attitude; demonstrates high ethical standards, integrity, and accountability
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, exercise sound business judgment, and think critically while thriving under pressure in fast-paced/high-volume settings
