About the Role: 

 

Are you ready to make a lasting impact on the commercialization of innovative oncology therapies across Europe? As Director EU Launch Operations you will lead the strategic and operational build-out of affiliate organizations in key European markets, including the UK, France, Italy, and Spain. Reporting directly to the VP, Head of Global Commercialization Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in translating BioNTech’s global strategy into compliant, scalable, and market-specific operations.

This highly visible role offers you the opportunity to shape launch readiness plans and establish consistent operating models across priority markets while driving alignment with global objectives and local regulatory frameworks. Your Contribution:

  • Lead the end-to-end strategic and operational establishment of EU affiliate organizations in preparation for oncology product launches
  • Translate global commercialization strategy into executable plans tailored to local market conditions
  • Define and implement consistent affiliate operating models while allowing for appropriate local customization
  • Develop launch readiness plans aligned with global timelines and set pre-commercialization KPIs for priority markets
  • Partner with HR to ensure timely hiring of critical roles and develop talent strategies for scaling affiliates
  • Collaborate with enabling functions (Finance, IT, Legal, Compliance) to ensure infrastructure readiness and compliant operations
  • Oversee governance frameworks, vendor partnerships, financial processes, and risk management strategies for EU launches
  • Apply expertise in EU pricing, reimbursement, and market access requirements to inform operational decisions

A Good Match:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) with 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industries
  • Proven track record in leading launch readiness or affiliate build-out within Europe
  • Solid oncology knowledge (including immunotherapy) combined with strong understanding of EU compliance regulations and market access frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally within matrixed organizations while influencing senior stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional organizational skills and operational planning expertise
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Europe, based in the UK with experience working closely with continental European markets
  • Proficiency in multiple languages (French, Italian, Spanish, or German strongly preferred)
  • Experience building organizations within early-stage or high-growth biotech environments
