Why we need you:
The BioNTainers will be equipped to produce a range of mRNA-based vaccines targeted towards the needs of African Union member states. You will become part of the regional staffing team, driving the establishment of the regional African end-to-end mRNA manufacturing network.

 

 

Specialist* SCM Planning 

 

The Specialist Supply Chain Materials Planning role is crucial to ensure smooth and efficient flow of materials and resources for Rwanda BioNTech Site Supply Chain. This will involve activities required to set up and operationalize the site from materials planning, materials onboarding, managing inventory levels, forecasting demand and coordinating with suppliers, global materials network organization, and manufacturing/production team. This will collectively contribute to the effective management of supply chain and ensuring that materials are timely available and supply chain disruptions are minimized.

 

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Bill of materials and Materials onboarding:

    • Own the Bill of materials, by setting up the bill of materials and keeping track of all changes.
    • Work effectively with category management, procurement and quality teams to support on timely materials onboarding according to project timelines. This will be a key activity in the project phase.

  • Material Requirement Planning (MRP):

    • Work closely with demand planning teams to capture accurate forward looking production demands, perform timely MRP runs.
    • Develop and implement materials planning strategies based on demand forecasts, production capacity and lead times. Align material availability with production schedules.

    • Collaborate with SO&P teams to gather information for accurate demand forecasting, preventing production delays or bottlenecks.

  • Inventory, technology and data Management :

    • Monitor and control inventory to prevent shortages or excess stock, optimizing inventory turnover while minimizing carrying costs by defining the inventory strategy for raw materials.
    • Contribute to the set up and configuration of an ERP system and other required software solutions for material planning aspect to enhance efficiency and accuracy in planning processes. Utilize various software tools and ERP systems to analyze data, generate reports, and make informed decisions to optimize material flow and inventory management.
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements within the materials planning function.
    • Assist in budgeting and cost control initiatives related to materials and inventory management.
  • Collaboration and Relationship Management :

    • Coordinate with vendor/suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to secure favorable terms, timely deliveries, facilitate effective communication and collaboration, and resolve any issues that may arise.
    • Participate in the contract negotiations and, terms and conditions with suppliers to optimize costs and ensure quality and timely delivery.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including warehouse, production, and quality, to align material planning with overall business goals.
  • Performance, compliance and Risk Management :

    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of materials planning processes.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies related to materials management and procurement.
    • Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as shortages, transportation delays, or quality issues, and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.

 

What you have to offer:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in supply chain management, operations management, logistics, business administration, or a related field

  • Solid understanding of supply chain planning, material requirement planning processes, forecasting with 5+ years of experience in supply chain planning processes

  • 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industries is strongly preferred.

  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving procedures with a proclivity towards building processes and capabilities.

  • Experience in working with ERP systems is a must.

  • An understanding of GxP process and procedures is preferable.

  • Professional certifications in supply chain planning, demand forecasting, and inventory management would be added value.

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)

  • Ability to be agile and effectively collaborate in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

  • High degree of conscientiousness and diligence

  • Constructive work habits, details oriented, flexibility, solution orientation, job ownership, quality awareness, and very good planning and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-starter and learning capacity.

  • Sense of ownership and honesty (proactive handling of errors)

  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and rapid growth and adapt to change.

  • Strong problem-solving skill and being able to work at start-up environment and manage ambiguity and operate effectively.

  • Comfortable working in an environment with ambiguity and competing priorities.

  • Curious to ask questions and respectfully challenge the status quo.
