Manager* Warehouse & Logistics Operations 

The Manager Warehouse and Logistics Operations plays a pivotal role in the success of the supply chain operations. His/Her ability to effectively manage people, process, and technology is critical to achieving operational excellence. His/Her responsibility is to ensure that all warehouse activities and logistics operations adhere to relevant regulations, standards, and best practice. Among which includes setting up the warehouse processes and overseeing the development, review and maintenance of standards operating procedures and working documents, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, efficient inventory management at Rwanda BioNTech Site.

Your main responsabilities are: 

• Warehouse Operations management:
  • Oversee all aspects of the warehouse logistics operations: adherence to quality and safety standard including development, creation, maintenance, review and enforcement of the standards operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WI), and other SCM related documentations to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Inventory control, systems and process optimization:
  • Monitor inventory levels, Track stock movements, perform reconciliations to ensure stock accuracy.
  • Leverage warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technology tools to optimize warehouse processes, track inventory, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Generate regular reports on warehouse and logistics performance, inventory levels, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review and decision-making.
  • Contribute to the set up and configuration of an ERP system and other required software solutions for warehousing, transportation and logistics operations aspects.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains in warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Implement best practices initiatives and lean principles, and automation solutions to improve productivity, reduce costs, enhance compliance and overall performance.
• Logistics Coordination and safety compliance:
  • Coordinate with logistics partners, carriers, and freight forwarders to arrange timely and cost- effective transportation of goods to comply with transportation regulations
  • Coordinate the documentation process for shipping and receiving of raw materials and finished products.
  • Oversee and implement products track and trace throughout the supply chain to enforce safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety training and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations to create a safe work environment for warehouse staff and visitors.
  • Establish and implement contingency plans for emergency situations such as natural disasters, power outages, or other disruptions with mitigation strategies to ensure the safety, integrity and compliance of products.
• Quality Control and Assurance:
  • Implement GMP compliant procedures for inbound and outbound goods to ensure and maintain product integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain quality management systems for warehouse operations
• Cold Chain Management:
  • Implement and oversee temperature-controlled logistics to maintain product efficacy.

What you have to offer: 

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 8-10 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical warehousing and logistics, management or manufacturing warehouse management
• 8+ experience in warehousing and logistics operations 
• 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industries is required
• Strong desire to work in a diverse, fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving procedures towards building functions and capabilities
• Experience working with ERP systems is required
• An understanding of GxP process and procedures is required 
• Comfort operating in an environment with ambiguity and competing priorities 
• Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and manage a team of warehouse and logistics professionals
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and cross-functional departments
• Advanced problem-solving skills to address complex logistical challenges and make data-driven decisions
• Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other logistics-related software
• Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to pharmaceutical and vaccine logistics, including Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Proven experience in identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives within warehouse and logistics operations. · Strategic mindset with the ability to align warehouse and logistics operations with broader organizational goals
• Customer-centric approach with a focus on meeting customer demands and ensuring high levels of service
• Strong commitment to safety protocols and the ability to enforce safety measures within the warehouse and logistics environment
• Strong analytical skills to analyze data, interpret trends, and make informed decisions
• Proven experience in managing warehouse and logistics teams, including recruitment, training, and performance management
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, unexpected challenges, and work flexible hours as needed 
• Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and maintaining confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information
• Experience in managing budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing operational expenses 
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, production, quality control, procurement, and other departments
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement, with the ability to identify and implement efficiency gains in warehouse and logistics operations
• Project management skills to oversee and lead logistics-related projects
• Understanding of global supply chain dynamics, especially if the organization operates in an international context
• Understanding of lean and six sigma
