Supply Chain Specialist, Raw Material Planning 

 

Primary responsibilities Include:

  • Based on forecast and other factors, plans and orders GMP raw materials that will be used in production and quality testing.
  • Based on demand and signaling from inventory management system, creates Purchase Requisitions and ensures Purchase Order (PO) closure upon receipt. 
  • Evaluates and sets min/ max levels and re-order quantities based on raw material usage demand and space constraints.
  • Tracks inventory levels with use of inventory management system.
  • Monitors lead times and re-order points of each GMP raw material considering shelf-life requirements and balance of space constraints in the GMP warehouse.
  • Address inventory related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Interact with suppliers and resolve order issues.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and alerts management of supplier issues or supplier change notifications.
  • Creates and assists in the revision of Standard Operation procedures (SOP).
  • Participates in establishing best practices and user requirements of new inventory management system and provides input to quality management system as it relates to raw material planning and receipt.
  • Communicates regularly with cross functional groups to manage materials for new product introductions, participates in creation of bill of materials and assist with new specification creation.
  • Manages changes to bill of material or specifications through change control procedures.
  • Initiate and lead cross-functional projects in programs that eliminate non-value-added activities, increase quality and service.
  • Performs other duties and tasks outside of primary role.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of direct material planning experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in biotech, biopharmaceutical industry or cell and gene therapy.
  • B.S. or B.A. in Health Sciences, Supply Chain, or other relevant fields.
  • Good understanding of GMP Manufacturing, Quality Systems and Supply Chain concepts.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility.
  • High energy level and a positive outlook coupled with the requisite “can do” attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to achieve personal and organizational goals and overcome obstacles.
  • Process development mindset.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • The position is located in Gaithersburg, MD.

 

Desired Requirements:

  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
  • Project Management Experience.
  • Experience working in GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Production Planning or Production Scheduling.
