Senior Research Associate 

 

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to join BioNTech’s Center of Excellence in Cell & Gene Therapy Research, Process & Analytical Development and Manufacturing facility in Gaithersburg, MD. You will be part of the multi-disciplinary Research team focused on developing TCR-T cell therapies targeting solid tumors. In this role, the SRA will have the opportunity to assist in the validation and characterization of novel TCRs for cell therapy, as well as participate in cross-functional collaborations across the company.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform isolation, activation, and multi-parametric characterization of resulting immune cell products using a variety of characterization techniques
  • Optimizing and conducting experiments to support TCR validation and characterization efforts
  • Develop systems for TCR efficacy testing, including organoids and cell line engineering
  • Perform viral vector-based or electroporation-based modification of primary immune cells and various cell lines.
  • Support development of enhancement and delivery strategies for cell therapy products
  • Record experimental procedures and results in an organized and timely manner; disseminate/present findings to internal groups and cross-site functional groups in a professional manner
  • Assist in general lab organization within the team, and lab inventory.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in sciences and 2-5 years of relevant experience in biology or immunology in a research lab setting.
  • Aseptic cell culture experience including primary cells and various cell lines
  • Expertise in immunological techniques including isolation and activation of T cells, functional assays, cytotoxic killing assay using FACS, MSD, xCELLigence and other methods
  • Proficiency in the use of software to support data analysis such as FlowJo, FACSDiva, GraphPad Prism, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Independent, flexible, self-motivated, and the ability to work well with others

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • A strong interest in T cell biology and cancer immunotherapy
  • A strong desire to learn high-throughput assay development via automation
