Finance Director 

 

The Finance Director is responsible for all aspects of managing the finance function at the company’s Gaithersburg, MD location. This employee will work closely with Gaithersburg Site Leadership and the US and Global Finance Teams to oversee and lead financial reporting and provide financial analysis and insights for all aspects of the Gaithersburg business. Reporting to the Vice President, US Finance, the Finance Director is an integral member of the broader US Finance Team. The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor and serve as a strategic partner to the Gaithersburg Site Leadership and the US Finance team.

 

This role is based out of the Company’s Gaithersburg, MD location and expected to be in-person at the facility a majority of the time.

 

Responsibilities

The areas of responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Partner and build relationships with all site-level departments, budget owners and site leadership to ensure accurate forecasting, budget management and financial analysis;

  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of the annual budget process and quarterly reforecasting process for the Company’s cell and gene therapy manufacturing facility in Gaithersburg, MD;

  • Collaborate with the entire US Finance Organization, the Global Finance organization and Operations Organization to ensure alignment with site and global budgeting processes; 

  • Lead Gaithersburg site financial reporting by preparing monthly, quarterly and annual management reports and presentations and providing insightful budget vs actual and period over period commentary at each of the site, department and program levels together with the global and domestic stakeholders;

  • Responsible for designing product costing including COGS development and optimization, inventory optimization, and manufacturing variances.

  • Partner with the Human Resources Lead to support site headcount and FTE planning, including tracking of actual hires to date versus budget;

  • Proactively be involved in capital expenditure decisions, leading and managing capital asset requisition approval process including date of service or retirement date; organization

  • Support the monthly close process, primarily by overseeing site related accruals;

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to identify cost savings initiatives, support business decisions and drive performance improvements;

  • Partner with the Accounting Manager to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance of internal controls for;

  • Partner with the US Tax team, understanding of tax strategies including transfer pricing and intercompany flows

  • Responsible for the training and development of the relevant Finance Organization

  • Support finance team and broader organization through ad hoc reporting projects and analysis as needed.

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field required, MBA and/or CPA preferred;

  • 10 plus years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a life sciences manufacturing environment;

  • Experience in a cross functional site leadership team and with the management of executive stakeholders

  • Experience with R&D, commercial, clinical and manufacturing financial related activities
