Engineer II, Process Development 

 

Position Summary

The Engineer II, Process Development, will contribute to and lead development of key unit operations for cell therapy manufacturing. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of the principles of cell therapy manufacturing and act as a technical resource both within his/her own work group as well as across the department and site. This position requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well with others in a matrix environment. The successful candidate will analyze and present possible solutions to incoming challenges using a mix of technical experience and critical thinking.
 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, characterize, and qualify cell production processes (includes cell processing, genetic modification, culture and expansion, harvest, and cryopreservation).
  • Draft SOPs, reports, and presentations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation commonly utilized by the process development team.
  • Collaborate with both internal research teams and external groups to advance translational immunology capabilities.
  • Transfer developed processes to Clinical Manufacturing Team (including training of manufacturing personnel and review of batch record documentation).
  • Analyze and present results within the team and to broader scientific groups.
  • Maintain a high standard of experimentation and record keeping.
  • Work productively in a team environment and independently to deliver against timelines.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Biology or related discipline and over 3 years of laboratory experience.
  • Experience with automated cell processing and/or cell expansion technologies preferred.
  • Experience working within CMC and Tech Transfer (e.g. process development, analytical development, QC, and/or GMP manufacturing) for cell therapy products preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and drive multiple projects to support pipeline.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation practices and strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience functioning within a multi-disciplinary team and ability to integrate cross-functional information, as well as work independently.
