Co-op, EHS

 

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Environment Health, and Safety (EHS) team, the Co-Op will assist in the development and implementation of critical aspects of BioNTech US’s EHS program at our facility in Cambridge, MA.   This opportunity will allow the co-op to gain real world experience in the management of an EHS program for a biopharmaceutical research facility, including supporting several program elements, including hazard communication, industrial hygiene, environmental management and sustainability. 
  • Assist in the development, review and revision of policies, procedures and training which support the EHS management system.
  • Support internal inspections/assessments of work areas to evaluate compliance with EHS regulations and policies.
  • Perform hazard assessments and other safety evaluations.
  • Assist in the development of presentations and promotional materials for communicating EHS initiatives and programs internally.
  • Maintain records relating to EHS management system programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in incident management activities, including injury management, investigations and associated recordkeeping.
  • Manage laboratory sustainability initiatives including Green Lab program, sustainability data reporting, and supporting virtual and in-person Green Team events, including global Earth Day event.


Requirements/Preferences

  • Strong interpersonal, writing, presentation, and analytical skills required.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and operations is preferred.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor/Master’s Degree program at an accredited university/college in Safety Management, Environmental Management or similar program of study with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Must have completed at least one year of study at an accredited university/college prior to internship commencing.
  • Must be able to complete a 24-26 consecutive week internship.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts.
