Senior Manager, Data Engineer
Your main responsibilities are:
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve data pipelines using platforms and tools like Databricks, Spark, and Airflow
- Optimizing pipeline execution for ingestion, curation, availability, and compliance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical research, data science, data governance and IT, to identify data needs and ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Design and optimize data models, schemas. Build, maintain and automate data integration and ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources
- Implement data quality controls and monitor data performance to ensure reliability and scalability and troubleshoot data issues and provide solutions
- Continuously improve data processes, data quality and validations to support data-driven decision making and enable rapid experimentation
- Research and evaluate new data technologies and tools
What you have to offer:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field AND at least 5-8 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on developing and maintaining large-scale data pipelines using
- Experience in the pharmaceutical- or biotech industry is a must
- Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python, go, or Scala
- Experience in cloud-based data processing systems and engineering with preferences for Databricks (strongly preferred, AWS, Terraform, Spark and Airflow.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL, and data warehousing
- Good knowledge of Data Lake and data environment, including data catalog (metadata) and API interfaces.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Spotfire
- Experience with DevOps tools and best practices (e.g., GitHub, Terraform, CI/CD for automating software development and deployment)
- Proven track record of working with vendors to deploy external SaaS solutions and integrate with existing systems, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry or another regulated environment
- Experience developing, implementing, and fostering adherence to data standards, including best practices and third-party guidance
- Hands-on working style, including identification, alignment of stakeholder priorities, risk mitigation and management strategies
- Knowledge of GCP guidelines / Clinical development and CDISC Standards, Integrity standards would be an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
