About the role:

 

We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated self-starter who is ready to make an impact in a dynamic and rapidly growing organization. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for preparation of monthly reconciliations, monthly internal controls, maintenance of financial systems, and ad hoc projects. The Senior Accountant will bring an expertise in accounting, financial reporting and internal controls, prioritization skills and with a focus on client service.

 

Your contribution:


•    Performance of monthly general ledger procedures for assigned areas, including processing journal entries, and preparation of supporting schedules, analyses and documentation 
•    Monthly reconciliation and analysis related to specific balance sheet accounts including, but not limited to accruals, inventory, collaboration agreements, intercompany transactions, equity, and other accounts as appropriate adhering to established deadlines to ensure a timely close
•    Coordinate with other business units to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information
•    Assist with month/quarterly internal and external reporting requirements and analyses
•    Understand and maintain internal control documentation in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) and ensure responsibilities are performed in accordance with appropriate accounting rules, SOX, and internal control requirements
•    Assist in preparation of annual audits and quarterly reviews, including interaction with external and internal auditors
•    Actively participate in both system and process improvements by monitoring assigned areas for process improvements to ensure efficiency
•    Prepare the internal and external reporting requirements and analysis
•    Collaborate with German colleagues to resolve technical accounting issues, including third party agreements, adoption of new standards, and general corporate accounting matters, especially as they relate to disclosure requirements
•    Partner with the Senior Accounting Manager to identify, drive, and optimize the implementation of processes, standardization, and automation. 
•    Responsible for preparation of monthly financial reporting package
•    Analyze fluctuations from month to month based on historic trend analysis in partnership with the budget, planning, and analysis team
•    Collaborate with Global Financial Reporting team to ensure appropriate disclosures in 20-F Annual and Quarterly filings
•    Assist in ERP implementation
•    Mentor and assist staff accountant
•    Perform Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis
•    Other tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned

     
A good match:

 

•    Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting 
•    A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a publicly listed global commercial company, ideally within pharmaceutical, life sciences or biotech industries. 
•    Internal controls (SOX) experience 
•    Knowledge of IFRS 
•    Curiosity to improve existing processes and implement with global and local stakeholders.  
•    Collaborative and consultative team player who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
•    Ability to follow instructions for multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
•    Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills 
•    Ability to work independently as well as with other groups across the business 

 

Preferred Qualifications:


•    Experience with SAP S4/Hana preferred 

 

Expected Pay Range: $113,600 - $181,600/year + benefits, annual bonus & equity (bonus and equity is variable and dependent on company and individual performance).  *Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
