Responsibilities
The Executive Director of Clinical Vendor Management & Performance Optimization will lead the strategic direction and operational excellence of our clinical vendor partnerships. This senior leadership role is essential in ensuring optimal performance, cost efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the strategic vision for clinical vendor management and performance optimization, aligning with the company's overall objectives.
• Vendor Management: Coordinate the selection, qualification, and management of clinical vendors, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Performance Optimization: In collaboration with cross-functional partners, drive the development and implementation of strategies to optimize vendor performance, including setting KPIs, conducting performance reviews, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contract Negotiation: In collaboration with Procurement steer high-level contract negotiations with vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with company objectives.
• Cost Analysis and Interrogation: Conduct thorough cost analysis and interrogation of vendor contracts and execution plans, with the objective of right-sizing both costs and execution plans to ensure value for money and efficiency.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including all functions within global development, including procurement, and legal teams, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with vendor management, ensuring business continuity and compliance.
• Budget Management: Oversee budgets related to vendor contracts and performance optimization initiatives, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for money.
• Reporting and Analytics: Develop and maintain robust reporting systems to track vendor performance, providing insights and recommendations to the executive leadership team.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences or a related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Extensive knowledge and experience with legislation and international guidelines (ICH-GCP/CFR) for clinical research projects.
- Significant experience managing and overseeing vendors in support of clinical trial execution.
- Broad knowledge and experience across multiple disciplines within Global Clinical Development.
- Minimum of 17 years in the pharmaceutical/biotech or related industry, with at least 10+ years in a leadership role within Global Clinical Development, demonstrating a proven track record in performance management, optimization, cost analysis, and strategic leadership.
