About the Role:

 

As Director of External Innovations at BioNTech, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and evaluating groundbreaking opportunities that align with our mission to pioneer immunotherapies for cancer and other serious diseases. Reporting to the VP of External Innovations, you will work in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment, driving innovation and contributing directly to our success.

Your work will be integral in scouting preclinical/clinical assets and innovative technologies, developing clinical strategies, and fostering collaborations with internal and external stakeholders. Join us in shaping the future of medicine by bringing untapped innovations to life.

 

Your Contribution:

 

  • Design clinical trial protocols for collaboration programs across early to late-stage development
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development teams to create clinical development plans and strategies
  • Analyze preclinical/clinical data, scientific literature, and technical information to identify high-potential innovations
  • Build relationships with target companies and explore collaboration opportunities
  • Represent BioNTech at industry conferences, presentations, and symposiums to scout promising opportunities
  • Partner transparently across internal departments including legal, IP, alliance management, and external collaborators

 

A Good Match:

 

  • MD with clinical background in Oncology or equivalent advanced degree preferred
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience; 3 plus years specifically in Oncology within biotech/pharma industries
  • Strong understanding of clinical development methods from First-in-Human (FIH) trials to registration.
  • Proven ability to design trials based on clinical development plans (CDPs) and translate them into actionable protocols
  • Collaborative spirit with demonstrated success working across multidisciplinary teams and external partners
  • Exceptional analytical skills to synthesize large datasets into clear recommendations for senior management
  • Flexible self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments; impeccable integrity and attention to detail

 

Preferred qualifications: Regulatory experience

 

Expected Pay Range: $168,100 - 268,700/year + benefits, annual bonus & equity (bonus and equity is variable and dependent on company and individual performance). *Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
