About the Role:
As Director of External Innovations at BioNTech, you will be at the forefront of identifying and securing groundbreaking opportunities that drive our mission to revolutionize immunotherapy and address unmet needs in healthcare. Reporting to the VP, External Innovations, you will work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, collaborating with senior management and key stakeholders to bring innovative technologies and partnerships to BioNTech.
Your expertise in business development and scientific evaluation will be crucial in scouting industry opportunities, negotiating agreements, and advancing BioNTech’s global vision. Join us in shaping the future of medicine by delivering impactful collaborations and innovations.
Your Contribution:
- Lead and drive partnering activities with global pharma partners, biotech companies, and academic institutions
- Negotiate and execute term sheets and agreements for diverse collaboration types
- Collaborate with internal teams including R&D, alliance management, legal, IP, finance, and senior management during deal-making processes
- Identify partnering or acquisition opportunities aligned with BioNTech’s strategic goals
- Analyze preclinical/clinical data, scientific literature, and technical information to assess potential innovations
- Develop high-quality deep-dive reports for internal stakeholders
- Actively seek untapped or stealth-mode innovations for potential development at BioNTech
A Good Match:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 plus years of experience in partnering, contract negotiation, and business development within pharmaceutical/biotech industries
- Proven track record of building partnerships with global pharma partners, biotech companies, and academic institutions; experience drafting and negotiating contracts
- Skilled at working cross-functionally within an international environment; collaborative mindset essential
- Self-driven professional who thrives in fast-paced environments; adaptable and proactive problem solver
- Strong passion for science with a focus on oncology; exceptional data analysis skills to translate findings into actionable recommendations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex ideas clearly
Preferred qualifications: Advanced degree (master’s, MD or PhD)
Expected Pay Range: $168,100 - 268,700/year + benefits, annual bonus & equity (bonus and equity is variable and dependent on company and individual performance). *Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
