(Senior) Scientist, T-Cell Immunology

 

Position Description:
BioNTech is seeking a highly-motivated Scientist to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team developing neoantigen specific T cell products to be used in adoptive T cell therapy. You will work closely with the Cell Therapy Unit, Bioinformatics, Translational Immunology, Translational sciences, and CMC and Technical Operations to develop and validate characterization assays and analytical methods. You will apply these to understand the characteristics and 
the quality of the cell therapy drug product. This position reports to Group leader-DPCAD/T cell Immunology leading the cross functional Drug Product Characterization and Analytical Development team. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop strategy to execute and understand T cell characteristics of drug product for phase 1 clinical trials of personalized autologous, neoantigen-specific T cell therapies.
  • Design, develop and document new assays for the product characterization.
  • Assessment of specificity and functionality of human T cells by multicolor flow cytometry
  • Perform single cell sequencing of antigen specific cells using 10X platform.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to strategize, analyze and curate the data collected.
  • Tracking and compiling results in an electronic notebook
  • Present results to both scientific and cross-functional teams
  • Train and support junior associates on the team to broadly move the project forward.

 

What you have to offer:

  • Ph.D. in T cell immunology or related discipline with 2+ years of relevant industry experience, eg translational immunology and/or immune monitoring and strong knowledge of T cell biology and/or immuno-oncology
  • Demonstrated proficiency in primary cell culture, flow cytometry and other immune related assays such as co-culture assays, single cell sequencing, cytotoxicity assays etc., is required.
  • Experience in conducting immune analysis and demonstrating an understanding of T cell functionality and phenotype in clinical settings is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail with ability to work independently in a collaborative environment to achieve project goals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
